Our December 10th Meeting featured guest speaker John Anderson, a retired architect and a member of the Apple Country Woodcrafters. John grew up in Philadelphia where he studied architecture at Drexel University, became licensed to practice in six states and was certified by the National Conference of Architectural Registration Boards. He retired to Hendersonville in 2005, took up watercolor and spent more time pursuing his interest in woodworking. He holds signature status in several watercolor societies and is a Past President of Apple Country Woodcrafters.
John reviewed his process for matting and framing artwork using a PowerPoint presentation and examples of his work. Included will be cutting rabbets, jig-cut spline slots, use of contrasting splines, clamping, finishing, securing the artwork, glazing and applying hanging hardware. A printed handout is available in the Meeting Handouts titled `Framing Artwork`.
